I have joined or have been apart of many PLNs. All of these sites are very beneficial and resourceful depending on what you are looking for. There are PLNs for anything that you are looking to be apart of or want to learn more about. I usually end up joining a network after being apart of a conference or being introduced to something new to try or learn. The networks allow you to connect with other people who are also learning about those topics or are experts in that field that are very willing to answer any questions or concerns you might have. The networks also allow you to share ideas and have conversations about what works and what does not work. Some of the PLNs that I am apart of are; MiELA Kindergarten Reading 2016, GoNoodle Community, GLPS/Lowell AVMR Club, Godfrey-lee Public Schools Technology and media, TechCrunch, Gigaom, and Edtech https://plus.google.com/113250520113373503324 or you could follow them by #edtech on twitter.
I really enjoy being apart of these communities. They all are very resourceful and have almost immediate feedback if I have a concern or question. I find myself constantly going to these communities and checking for updates and seeing what is new or what others are saying. I also have many people who I also follow through teacherspayteachers and pintrest. I find that the ones that I like a lot of their ideas I follow them and some even have their own websites that I too then continue to watch and see what new things they have to blog about or are adding. These are just amazing resources the are at your finger tips everyday.
I am just consuming all of the knowledge of those that are more tech savvy than I am and I’m learning from them. What I learn from the blogs and the post I take in consideration as to how I can implement this amazing ideas into my classroom and allow it to flow nicely with my already routine. As far as contributing, I am only being able to share the ideas I find and learn about with my colleagues in hopes that we all can do the same thing. I have not been able to do anything else yet, but I hope to be able to sometime help others out who have questions on some of the PLNs.
I love getting together with my Kinder team and collaborating our ideas and things we have learned. Right now I find the hardest part about collaborating is finding time to do so. It seems there is always a plt or other program going on that doesn’t allow us to get together and collaborate. I just wish there was more time. I find however when we go to different conferences then our group there can talk and collaborate on what we have learned and how we can take back what we learned to the others that did not get to go. Collaboration and engagement is a huge part of grade level understanding and I just wish that we had a set time when we are all allowed to get to together and discuss all of the new things we have learned and started to trying.
